Oaxaca, Mexico: Catch Surf Trip

Catch Surf, a clothing company out of San Clemente, CA, was kind enough to sponsor my trip to Mexico to photograph a couple of the guys riding for them. Those guys included Kalani "Eggy" Robb, Johnny "the rocket" Redman, and Jason "Action" Jackson. After a couple of flights, haggling over transportation rates, and a long taxi ride complete with near death misses, I arrived in the small town of Santiago Astata: our basecamp for the next few days. Our camp was owned by Danny Setum which was in close proximity to any of the surf spots. Upon arrival the wind was howling at the beach so, instead of surf, we did some product shots. The next couple of days the guys ripped it even though the waves were a tad small. We surfed San Diego's, Lighthouse, and Coloradas. The team also was able to see the incredible coastlines, villages, and eat some of the best Mexican food they've ever had, compliments of Danny Setum's wife, Erica. While it was painful to leave such incredible point breaks, kind people, and great food, it was also nice knowing I would be returning to 70 degree weather where the humidity didn't strip every bit of moisture from your body. Thanks to Catch Surf and their team for making an unforgettable trip and may I be ever so lucky again to attend. Now to the photos!

Underwater Photography

Came across this great underwater photography article on Sarah Lee. It has some great shots, tips, and gear recommendations that I wanted to share with everyone. This has definitely been an area of photography I would like to explore further because it so far out of my ordinary realm. It defnitely has it's perks: being in the ocean, having to get more great camera gear, and getting a tan. Here are a few shots from this article to inspire you to maybe trying something out of your element. (all images copyright of Sarah Lee)

Knight Family Shoot

We love this family! They are so beautiful and kind and little Curren is just soooooo cute! We photographed this along a trail that leads from a parking lot in Goleta to the beach with some beautiful stops along the way. Here are just a couple of pictures that we took that stood out in our minds. Hope you enjoy!
